STREAM Learning at QA

STEM is a curriculum based on the idea of educating students in science, technology, engineering, and math by integrating the four subject matters into one cohesive learning paradigm based on real-world applications. This approach has been found to help students develop communication, collaboration, innovation, and critical thinking skills, all of which have great benefits and real-world applications.

Queen of Angels takes this one step further by also integrating our Catholic faith (Religion) and the Arts into our student’s learning experiences. We believe this commitment to providing extraordinary classroom experiences, where students are encouraged to ask questions, exercise their creativity, be innovative and solve problems, will ultimately help them thrive in higher levels of education and beyond.

In 2019, QA was able to expand our STREAM curriculum by building a dedicated space, and specialized faculty were able to broaden our students’ minds. We have also found that the integration of STREAM in our classrooms, outside of attending class in the STREAM lab allows for teachers to engage students, helping them to make mutually reinforcing connections that deepen understanding, improve recollection, and ultimately make learning more fun more effectively.

Our small class sizes and team approach to teaching provides every student regular opportunity to participate in STREAM integrated coursework, not in just one or two lessons throughout the school year. The incorporation of faith allows students to take time to be reflective and understand their impact on the world around them. It also provides them with the self-discipline, empathy, and respect, needed to become compassionate and successful leaders in the future.
