The Study of Spanish
At Queen of Angels, the foreign language program for grades K-5 provides a variety of benefits:
- Teaches listening, basic vocabulary and culture with an emphasis on Catholic connections
- Exposes student to the beauty and richness of other languages and cultures
- Strengthens cognitive thinking skills
- Supports the native language of students and reinforces English grammar
The ultimate goal of the Spanish program is to successfully complete the level one high school curriculum. In grades 6-8, the Spanish curriculum is delivered through the Rosetta Stone Foundations Program three times per week. Students have the option to work advance through the program at their own pace. Carefully sequenced lessons introduce vocabulary and grammar, while building lessons on previously learned content. As students progress through the modules, there is speech recognition and activities that assists in improving pronunciation and speaking confidence. The program allows for differentiated learning and provides immediate feedback on every response.
