Feast of the Guardian Angel

On October 2nd, the Universal Church celebrates the Feast of the Guardian Angels. Our belief in Guardian Angels dates back to ancient times. According to the Catechism of the Catholic Church, “From its beginning until death, human life is surrounded by their watchful care and intercession. Beside each believer stands an angel as protector and shepherd leading him to life” (CCC 336). Our students in grades K-5 will learn all about Guardian Angels and this special feast day in their Spiritual Life presentations during the month of October.

A new tradition at QA in celebration of this special day was implemented during school year 2018-2019. First grade students, clad in angel attire (complete with wings), visited St. George Village on the morning of October 2nd dressed as “Angels” to share the joy of this feast day with our neighbors. Accompanied by QA faculty and administration, our “Angels” sang a song, recited the Guardian Angel prayer, passed out handmade angel bookmarks, and processed through the halls. What beauty and joy they provided for the residents of St. George Village.
