Technology Corner
Technology Goals
At Queen of Angels Catholic School, we take every opportunity to use technology to educate and enhance our learning environment. We integrate technology into our curriculum to make the most of our students’ academic experience. Weekly computer classes serve to educate students about basic user functions as well as develop good keyboarding and research skills. We teach the same PC and Microsoft programs that are used throughout most educational environments and workplaces. These programs, along with many individualized and focused software packages, help develop proficient technological skills in our students and enhance their academics at each grade level.
Queen of Angels Catholic School Technology Committee
The Queen of Angels Catholic School Technology Committee is comprised of a variety of individuals with technical backgrounds and faculty/staff who work with our current technology. This team collaborates to develop an on-going plan for technology improvements. This committee meets several times during the academic school year.
Monthly Highlights
One ongoing project is our WQOA Morning Show. We use state-of-the-art television production equipment to produce and broadcast daily morning announcements. These are televised throughout the building for all students, faculty and staff to enjoy.
All students enjoy weekly class periods in the computer lab. Different software programs are taught with an emphasis on keyboarding skills.
Our programs have a wide range of flexibility for the novice learner as well as the more experienced user. These range from the Accelerated Reader program in the primary grades to the use of the Active Board, Front Page, Movie Maker, Adobe Photoshop Elements 2, video streaming and all of the Microsoft Office products. All of our teachers incorporate technology in their lesson plans. This includes Art, P.E., and Spanish.
Our goal is to prepare our students for the ever changing technology challenges that affect their education.
