Features of this website
- Every page is based on a standard template that can be edited in any ASCII or HTML editor. If you view the source of this page (IE menu View->Source), you will see that there are internal comments indicating where you can 1) change the title above and 2) change the body content.
- The site does not use or depend on Microsoft proprietary editors (FrontPage) or website extensions. It can be maintained by thousands of low cost and open source tools.
- A pull-down menu bar provides a small footprint and makes the full width of the web page available to web authors.
- The menu bar structure is based on the four types of web users: visitors, students, parents, and faculty & staff. This user-centered design makes navigation simpler.

Security Considerations
- All new content is made public only after it has been reviewed and approved by Dr. Kathryn Wood or someone she designates.
- All students included in photographs must have signed releases.
- Last names of students are not included on this website.
- Home phone numbers are not included on this website unless the number is associated with a business.
- Refrain from sharing or linking to Microsoft Office documents such as MS Word. Word documents can carry macro viruses, readers can see prior edits made in Word documents, and documents that should not be modified can be modified. Documents intended to be
- distributed widely
- printed out or
- unaltered (like forms & legal documents)
should be in Adobe Acrobat (pdf) format. PDF documents are formatted for paper, they do not carry viruses, they cannot be modified, and they do not reveal edits. Any Windows desktop application that can print can generate a pdf document. Install pdfCreator on your local machine in order to create pdf documents.
- Spammers employ programs called spyders to collect email addresses from websites. The address below (as well as all faculty email addresses), looks and behaves like a standard mailto: link that spammers seek. But it is invisible to spyders because it is created on-the-fly by Javascript. The e-mail address (below) does not exist in the source HTML scanned by spyders - to confirm this, click on the View menu bar then click on Source on the pulldown menu.

How to contribute content to this website
The following procedures have been approved for the submission of all content for publishing on the Queen of Angels Catholic School website. The reasons for these procedures include:
* Insure that the web authoring effort performed by volunteers is productive
* Publish content in a timely manner
* Protect the privacy and security of everyone in the QA community
* Insure that all content is reviewed and approved by QA staff prior to public release
To this end, all content requests should be directed to a resident Queen of Angels Catholic School "Content Czar". Frances Gomes is the appointed website content czar. All questions regarding this procedure should be directed to her.
1. Complete a Website Content Submittal form. Click here to view it & print it out.
2. Give completed form and digital content to Content Czar
3. Content Czar sees that artwork is scanned, content is accurate and approved for public release
4. Content is transmitted to webmaster for publishing
5. Content is authored and staged for review by Principal
6. Principal reviews staged content & either gives approval or suggests changes (go to 5). If approved, new content is made public
Keep in mind:
- The process from "submission" to "live on the website" is a minimum of nine days. For some submissions, especially ones that require photo editing, allow three to four weeks depending on the number of pictures, graphics, and forms involved.
- A "package approach" is preferred when submitting items for the website. Always supply your copy (written content), pictures, clipart, graphics, and how you visual the layout. Avoid the "bits and pieces approach" because this puts an undue burden on all involved. One email containing "the package" (accompanied by the Website Submittal Form) is superior to multiple emails with changing copy (content) and layout instructions.
Periodic Updates to this website
In order to better manage web authoring resources, publish dates are scheduled on a regular basis with submittal deadline occurring 9 days earlier.
Rule: The 3rd Tuesday of each month is the deadline for submitting information and pictures for the website. Due to special events during the school year, the website may be refreshed semimonthly.
