Features of this website
· The website was designed by Snap Technology http://www.snaptechit.com/ using Dot Net script
· The menu bar structure is based on the three types of web users: visitors, parents & students, and faculty and staff. The user-centered design makes navigation simpler.
Security Considerations
· All new content is made public only after it has been reviewed and approved by Dr. Kathryn Wood or someone she designates.
· All students included in photographs must have signed releases
· Last names of students are not included on this website.
· Home phone numbers are not included on this website unless the number is associated with a business.
· Microsoft Office documents such as MS Word are not shared or linked to this website since they can carry macro viruses, reveal prior edits and can be modified. Documents intended to be distributed widely, printed out or unaltered (like forms and legal documents) should be in Adobe Acrobat (pdf) format. PDF documents are formatted for paper, they do not carry viruses, they cannot be modified, and they do not reveal edits. Any Windows desktop application that can print can generate a pdf document. Install a pdf Creator on your local machine in order to create pdf documents.
· Spammers employ programs called spyders to collect email addresses from websites. The email addresses on this website look and behave like a standard mailto: link that spammers seek. But is it invisible to sypders because it is created on-the-fly by Javascript. The email address does not exist in the source HTML scanned by spyders.
How to contribute content to this website
· The following procedures have been approved for submission of all content for publishing on the Queen of Angels Catholic School website. The reasons for these procedures include:
o Insure that the web authoring effort performed by the faculty and HSA volunteers is productive
o Publish content in a timely manner
o Protect the privacy and security of everyone in the QA community
o Insure that all content is reviewed and approved by QA staff prior to public release
Content requests should be directed to the moderator assigned to each area of the website.
1. On a weekly basis, the moderators will compile the requests for changes to the content and submit it to the Principal for review.
2. The Principal reviews the content and either gives approval or suggests changes. No content will be made public until the Principal gives her final approval.
If an appointed moderator chooses to publish content on the website without the prior approval from the Principal, his/her privileges as a moderator will be revoked immediately. The implementation of the procedures outlined here are designed to maintain the integrity of the website and protect the good name and reputation of the school and its officials.
Keep in mind:
A “package approach” is preferred when submitting items for the website. Always supply copy material (written content), pictures, clipart, graphics and layout instructions. Avoid the “bits and pieces approach” as this puts an undue burden on all involved. One email containing “the package” is superior to multiple emails with ever changing copy (content).
Periodic Updates to this website
· Updates to this website will be made on a daily and weekly basis and will conform with the content review/approval procedures. Send submissions to the designated moderator in a timely manner to allow the principal sufficient for review and approval.
